Record breaking IHIF 2018 delivers across the board

BERLIN (April 5, 2018): Last month, over 2,400 delegates, an 11% increase year-over-year, from over 80 countries gathered at the InterContinental Hotel in Berlin, Germany for the International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF). IHIF is the largest, and most senior, global gathering of the hotel investment community.

The 2018 event was the 21st series in the history of the forum and was marked by record breaking figures across the board. The largest delegation; over 2,400 from across the hotel investment eco-system globally, the most senior audience; 87 CEOs from leading organisations across the hospitality, property, leisure, technology, investment and travel sectors and the most sponsors and supporters ever seen in the event’s lifetime clearing demonstrating the appetite for affiliation with the event and the value derived from this investment and relationship. 80 companies committed to sponsoring and exhibiting during the forum and formed part of over 800 companies represented across the conference.

The theme for this year’s forum; Reaching New Heights, was present throughout the conference programme and the exhibition space, including the innovative new Tech Hub area. The Tech Hub was created to reflect the consistently changing nature of the industry and provided an innovative space for the hospitality industry’s leading minds to discover the latest in technology and data solutions to progress their business.

Also new for 2018 was the CEO Council, an invite only forum of global hotel brand CEOs who met during IHIF to discuss trends, challenges and opportunities impacting the hopsitality industry from economics, global secrurity and labour to the impact of technology on their businesses. Jay Stein, Chief Executive Officer, Dream Hotel Group who attended the CEO Council and IHIF commented “Tapping into a braintrust of 20+ thought leaders, the CEO Council provided a safe space for hoteliers, large and small, to come together, share their stories and speak candidly about the global issues affecting our business today – the good, the bad and the ugly. Collaboration is the backbone of success, and initiatives like the CEO Council at IHIF help to facilitate these conversations in a way that’s meaningful and honest. A collective, unified approach to tackling today’s issues benefits us all, and I look forward to many more thoughtful discussions to come.”

Alexi Khajavi, Managing Director of EMEA Hospitality + Travel Group, Questex said “the collective worth of face-to-face meetings, collaborative thinking and shared intelligence continues to motivate hospitality professionals worldwide to attend well organised and purposeful conference and exhibitions. We truly believe that, with careful and considered curation and planning, a forum like IHIF delivers exceptional value to delegates who join us for 3 days in Berlin every March. We’re absolutely delighted to have just hosted the most successful IHIF in its 21-year history and are already in preparations for 2019 in collaboration with our CEO Council and senior level Advisory Board Committee.”
